Auto Services

The Automotive Services/Small Engine Repair Program at Capital Region BOCES is a Career Studies program for students who want to learn in a hands-on atmosphere at an alternative pace. These programs are designed to meet all the provisions of each students individualized educational program through providing challenging, developmentally appropriate career prep experiences. Career Studies programs have a student-teacher ratio of approximately 12:1 and are taught by teachers with substantial real-world experience in their given trade.

Students learn about basic automotive and small engine maintenance and repair, general service station duties, and exhaust and engine systems. They work on donated and student vehicles and engines and build key skills such as teamwork, communication and customer service. They also learn fundamentals of maintaining a facility.
