The
Assistant
District
Superintendent
for
Instructional Services
is responsible for providing systematic leadership and
guidance regarding instructional quality and student
achievement for BOCES programs and school districts in the
region. The Assistant District Superintendent also plays a
pivotal role in helping the BOCES and its divisions achieve
educational excellence. Responsibilities include:

Overseeing
implementation and evaluation of instructional, staff
development, performance review initiatives and the Mini
Grant Program.

Serving
as a resource for information about research-based best
practices.

Assisting
the District Superintendent in the monitoring and analysis
of regional student performance data.

Providing
leadership and assistance to component school districts
in their work to improve student
learning and
achievement,
including
providing
information
regarding
the
No
Child
Left
Behind
legislation.

Check out the
newly developed Web pages for No Child Left Behind by
clicking on the link in the right column. The new pages
were developed to provide school administrators,
teachers and parents with resources they can use to
navigate NCLB.
BOCES
Mini Grants
Applications to apply for a 2008-09 BOCES mini grant
are due April 25. Mini grants for 2008-09 will be
awarded in June. New applicants can attend a training
session to learn how to craft a winning application. Two
free training sessions for writing mini-grants will be
provided by Beth Haggerty at 3 p.m. on March 25 and
April 3 at Central Administration. To register, contact

Professional
Development Plan resource on BOCES web site
A section
of our web site is now devoted to employee
professional development and is expected to be fully
operational by mid-May. Each
part of the professional development site is available
to all BOCES staff, with the exception of the PDP
Timekeeper, an on-line registration, approval and
recording software that tracks an individual's
professional development hours. This
software is being piloted this year by all of our teaching
assistants and newly certified teachers for whom SED
requires 75 or 175 hours of professional development
every five years in order to maintain certification.
An
evaluation of the usefulness of this site is expected by
January 2006, when it may be expanded to include other
employee groups. To
