The Early Childhood Direction Center (ECDC) service, funded by the New York State Education Department, http://www.vesid.nysed.gov/lsn/ecdc/home.html, and located at the BOCES Maywood School, helps parents and professionals obtain services for children with disabilities from birth to five years old. If a parent or professional suspects a child may be delayed in development, the ECDC staff will help arrange screening, educational programming, therapy, financial assistance, legal advocacy and counseling. The ECDC provides inclusion support services to area childcare centers which include staff training and in-classroom consultation support. Parent Education Training is also offered for parents of preschool children. Training modules include the transition from early intervention services to preschool special education services and the transition from preschool special education to school aged services.
